A New Recipe

I love the sugar cookies you can buy from the store...you know the ones...they are very soft and usually have pink icing on top with sprinkles.  They are my absolute favorite cookies.  I try not to buy them too often because I'll eat them and they are very high in calories.  But when it comes to cookies, sometimes you just have to endure the extra calories.

I came across a recipe on Pinterest for cookies that should taste like the real deal you get at the store.  So I made them tonight.  I haven't tried them yet; you are supposed to let them sit for a while so the flavors can blend.  But I can say that the little bit of dough I tried was pretty tasty.  My youngest was helping with the sprinkles and she and I sampled the icing too, and we both loved it.  So hopefully that means the cookies will be awesome.  I can't wait!!!

Here's my version, but I couldn't go with the standard pink because I like to be different sometimes.  So I went with purple icing.

Wrong Name?

I think I may have chosen the wrong name for my blog.  Instead of My Cookie Addiction, I think I should have chosen My Baking Addiction.  I've always loved baking, and just got into decorating cookies recently.  That's not to say that I haven't always baked cookies, just not iced ones.  I like the name though, so it will stay the same, but don't be surprised to see things other than cookies.

So on that note, I made some cupcakes last night.  I've been looking at this recipe for a few weeks now, wanting to try it.  They looked so delicious, but we were going out of town for Spring Break and I didn't think they'd travel well (besides, I was already taking sugar cookies and Oreo Truffles with us).  I feel a little guilty that it's a box mix prepared according to the directions, followed with a tub of icing.  But you put some of the icing inside the cupcake, ice the cupcake, and top it off with mini chocolate chips....HEAVEN!!  Here's a picture of the cupcakes.  Sorry I didn't show you the inside, but just imagine yummy frosting inside too....kind of like a Hostess cupcake...Yum!!

More Cookies

I feel like I abandoned my blog.  I just got it started, and then disappeared for a while.  Sorry about that.  Things got a little hectic for a bit.  We decided to go to Alabama to see friends and family for Spring Break, and on top of that, I decided to make cookies to take with me.  It takes 2-3 days to make a batch of cookies; the icing has to have time to dry before you put it in a bag or it's a big mess (trust me on this one, I speak from personal experience).
So anyway, here are some more cookies I've made recently.  And since today is St. Patrick's Day, I have to start with the shamrock cookies...

Here are some cupcakes and zebra print cookies I made for Natalie's Birthday:

Below are Breast Cancer Ribbon cookies; I was trying out a different chocolate cookie recipe and thought they would be fun to make.

And last, I made cookies shaped like Massachusetts.  Natalie had to do a state report and got Massachusetts.  As luck would have it, their state cookie is chocolate chip and I found a cookie cutter shaped like the state and had a chocolate chip recipe I wanted to try out.  So here they are:

They were pretty tasty in the end, but that little boot piece was a pain to get out of the cookie cutter, especially if a chocolate chip happened to be in that part of the dough.

I've really enjoyed making cookies and now find myself looking for reasons to make more.  I really should be working on hair bows for upcoming craft shows, but instead, I want to make cookies.  :-)  Guess that just means that I picked the appropriate name for my blog.
